[19 minute version]
Saaqi Tere darr de utay
Aaray mast deewanay
Tere naa diyaan dhumaan paiyaan
Saaray vich zamaanay
Sab nu Saaqi mast bana de
Par par de pe-maanay
Nazraan naal pila de saanu
Khol de ajj Mai-khaanay
Hun Piyaala Rakh de ik paasay
Aj nazraan naal pila Saaqi!
Saada roz da peena muk jaave
Aj Aisa nasha charha saaqi
Nasha Pakda ni uriyaan jaaman thi
Pura par keh nazran da jaam pila
Kareen khayal na saadi masti da
Aj jaam te jaam luta Saaqi
Koi nasha nai ais Sharaab andar
Mere Saaqi! Mere Saaqi!
Koi nasha nai ais Sharaab andar
Saara nasha ay teriyaan nazraan vich
Has Has keh naina de jaam pila
Aj mathay uttay watt na paa saaqi
Tere bohot puraanay Gaahak haan
Aj naway nai peewan aaye haan
Naya Rakh le jaam piyale vich
Allah naave hor pila saaqi

Mast alast "Rafiq" nu karde hosh rahe na Baaqi
De sharaab mana mun saaqi, de na pa chattanki
Sun key aaya dooron Saaqi, Karam nawaazi teri
Shoq sharaab da, mainu Saaqi, Laggi si Gandheri
Mun nu lag gayi chutdi nahi, Tauba karaan batheri

ReplyDeletesame. can someone translate to english? also who is the lyricist of this song?
DeleteAt your doorstep oh bartender
DeleteIntoxicated men have come
Your fame is famous far and wide
Oh bartender make everyone intoxicated
Fill all the bowls
Make us drunk by your sights and open taverns
Oh bartender! Put the bowl on the other side now make us drunk by your eyes
Today make us intoxicated like this that our habit of drinking wine of everyday be finished
The addiction is flew out from half filled bowl
Drink us a full-filled glass of wine
Don't care for our intoxication
Today lay down the goblet over goblet
There is no addiction in this wine
Oh my beloved!! Oh my beloved !!
All addiction is your eyes
Drink us being happy
Don't be angry / don't make your forehead be wrinkled
We are your old customers
We have not come newly to drink
Put the goblet into the bowl
For the sake of Allah please drink me more
I've to drink, I've to drink
Not through the goblet but through your eyes
Drink me such a liquor so that I will be insane
Charity of tavern plz bring it now
All the men come here are infatuated drink wine to all these
If the bowl is not such wide then drink us with handful
I'm not monotheist but I'm an intoxicated drunkard
S
Give me as you please I don't want it with the juice of roses
If you're not free then hand the all tavern over me
Listen to me carefully I'm not an abstinent
Thanks alot man, you have no idea how ecstatic i am having found your comment. Please connect me on my Instagram - shivangsingh08. I'd love to have more insights about more such beautiful qawwalis
Deletepls keep in mind that the original states, ay gal meri sun le saaki, mein te Nahi wahabi, which is the poet denouncing wahabism while simultaneously serving as making it known that they are not one to abstain from wine
DeleteThx a lot dear for the translation..thx and greetings from kerala, India
DeleteWho's the writer?
ReplyDeleteGood Translation busdy but Just so be Clear! This poetry or Qalam has nothing to do with literal drinking or alcohol. These words are metaphorically used to describe someone looking for spiritual guidance and where saki is mentioned it’s a metaphor for a guider and Mai khana is used as the place where seekers would find it. So it’s not one of those (drinking party songs) this is one of the most Spiritual and Seeking Guidance from God type Kalam
